Brand vs. Retailer

Brand vs RetailerI was recently browsing Shopbop.com (what a surprise) and found these ridiculously crazy booties. The heel is like 5+ inches with a 1.5 inch platform. I was in awe until i saw the $298 price. So I added them to my wishlist, but had no intentions of buying them. At least not right away. I rarely rarely rarely shop at Bebe, but receive their coupons by mail. On one of the models in the pamphlet was the booties! I was so confused because on Shopbop.com they were by Dolce Vita, but here they were being sold at Bebe for $189.

So the question is: would you rather have the name brand or the retailer shoe? Besides the differences in costs, they’re the same shoe. Here I am thinking Dolce Vita designs all of their shoes. Not sure if the Dolce Vita buyers were aware that the shoe they had ordered would be sold in a chain of retail stores for more than $100 less. Bad for Dolce Vita, great for Bebe. Oh, and Bebe has them in white, as well. Shopbop.com only carries them in black.

Which would you choose?
