Preppy Pastel

From On May 27, 2011

I can’t remember when I first saw these J brand skinnies (maybe online), but I do remember seeing them in Bloomingdale’s and knowing I had to try them on. They ran a size small and of course, the next size up wasn’t available. I thought about them for days and even pictured what I first wanted to wear them with. I loved the light rosey pink color, going back to my spring obsession with this particular shade. I knew I wanted to wear my orange and white striped Trina Turk cardigan with them. I had gotten it from a sample sale a while back. Although it was a size large I was still determined it’d be coming home with me. I washed and dried it in hopes of shrinking it. It worked even though it was still a little big. Right down my alley, though. But yeah, I thought the pink and the orange together would be fun.

The pants I ended up ordering online. They’re originally meant to be capris, but on my 5 foot frame come to be ankle length. Perfect. I gave myself the challenge of not wearing anything from J.Crew. I failed. I chose to wear this look with a pair of shoes from ALDO, so this belt from J.Crew worked perfectly. Whatever, they have great accessories! I completed the outfit with a basic white tank.

What’s with the hair you ask? My faux bob fro (say that five times fast). Just experimenting, I guess. Oh and sorry if the pics look a little washed out. We have overcast skies (and maybe the wrong setting on my camera) to thank.

Sweetest Mint

From On May 23, 2011

Adding mint green to your wardrobe for spring is a must. So when I saw this Bar III silk maxi in Macy’s I knew right away that I was going to be getting it. The question was how did I plan on wearing it. I decided the contrast of black and white would work perfectly. I got this super long striped cardigan from J.Crew last year and haven’t worn it too much since then. The belt is a more recent purchase, also from J.Crew. I made myself wait until it went on sale. I spend way too much on their belts. The cute factor and great quality leather always hooks me. So I figured if my size was still available when it went on sale then it was truly meant for me. I didn’t realize how much I had from that store until recently. Writing this post also pointed to that same fact because the massive ring and earrings are from J.Crew too. Yup, J.Crew is my weakness. On another note, my Loeffler Randall flats are very dear to me. I love her shoes. These in particular are so adorable with their crossing straps and pyramid studs.

Tribal & True

From On May 16, 2011

Another gorgeous spring day. I’ve really been into wearing full mini skirts with a tucked in long-sleeve top and belted, of course. This time I wore a Calvin Klein button-up I purchased recently. At first look I thought it was chambray, but after touching it did I realize that it was linen. And boy do I love linen for spring! The coloring through me off which made me like it more. I tucked it into this tribal printed skirt I got from Forever 21 last year. I love the blue against the black and white. The belt is the new one I just got from J.Crew while I was in Chevy Chase. Got a great deal on that. By great deal I mean $10! Lastly, the Sam Edelman gladiator sandals I’ve had for years. They make any look a bit more dramatic as opposed to regular flip-flops.

On The Fence

From On May 13, 2011

I’ve always had ideas of having some photos shot in front of a metal fence. I guess today I felt would be the perfect time. I ordered these Members Only latex leggings from Urban Outfitters when that trend first rolled out. I had them tucked away when I thought of them paired with this Cartonnier blazer from Anthropologie. And with these heels from ALDO? Oh, yes! They look like just another basic black pump and then you turn around and BAM! A cute bow adorns the heels. Love it. I have maybe six boyfriend tissue tees from J.Crew. They’re great for just throwing on. I was hoping they would get them back in stores, but they didn’t. The vintage tee, a similar style, replaced them. Bummer.

I usually keep it light on the accessories. I’m not even sure where the necklace came from, but I do know I was in California when I got it. I thought I’d try something different when I bought these glasses from Forever 21. I love the way the big frames look. The massive ring came from Annie Creamcheese, a vintage boutique in Georgetown. I definitely need to take another trip there in the near future.

Big THANK YOU to everyone that takes the time to stop by my blog. I appreciate it!

In Her Garden

From On May 9, 2011

Here’s my Mother’s Day look. Very casual and simple. Exactly how I like it most of the time. My family met up at my grandmother’s house for dinner to celebrate the lovely mother’s we have in our family. They are amazing and I love them. These photos were taken in her backyard. Its like a huge garden. There are lots of flowers, growing vegetables and there’s even a pond with coy fish. So relaxing.

I’m wearing one of my signature J.Crew tissue tees, new BCBG Max Azria skirt, and some Nine West sandals that I completely forgot that I had. Again, this goes back to quality. It’s been at least 7 years since I bought these. Leather shoes will take you a long way. The skirt was a recent purchase. Navy + striped = SOLD! Love the twisted hemline, as well. Now the belts are interesting since I felt like wearing two. The brown one is from Martin & Osa. Check out the oval-shaped studs! The cream one is a recent purchase from the Gap. The hardware on that thing is amazing.

Pretty flowers in my grandmother's garden.

Some of her orchids. O'so lovely.
