Color My Denim!

From On May 30, 2011

Colored denim is huge for spring into summer and I’ve been seeing it everywhere! Intermix posted the above photo on their Facebook page and I was immediately inspired to do a post on the trend. You saw my pastel pink skinnies by J Brand I wore in a previous post. I love that shade of pink, for the hundredth time, and how the color breaks away from the norm of regular ol’ blue jeans.

Below you’ll find a variety of pieces of colored denim. The best thing about them? You can find them just about anywhere. I pulled these photos from Net-a-porter, Stylebop, Urban Outfitters, Topshop and Mirabella. All of which will cost you between $66 and $285. If you’re looking for a bargain, check out your local H&M or Forever 21. There you’ll be able to find colored denim for under $30!

I’m thinking I’m going to add more colored denim to my wardrobe. I love how it brightens any outfit. This time, however, I think I’ll try some shorts.

Preppy Pastel

From On May 27, 2011

I can’t remember when I first saw these J brand skinnies (maybe online), but I do remember seeing them in Bloomingdale’s and knowing I had to try them on. They ran a size small and of course, the next size up wasn’t available. I thought about them for days and even pictured what I first wanted to wear them with. I loved the light rosey pink color, going back to my spring obsession with this particular shade. I knew I wanted to wear my orange and white striped Trina Turk cardigan with them. I had gotten it from a sample sale a while back. Although it was a size large I was still determined it’d be coming home with me. I washed and dried it in hopes of shrinking it. It worked even though it was still a little big. Right down my alley, though. But yeah, I thought the pink and the orange together would be fun.

The pants I ended up ordering online. They’re originally meant to be capris, but on my 5 foot frame come to be ankle length. Perfect. I gave myself the challenge of not wearing anything from J.Crew. I failed. I chose to wear this look with a pair of shoes from ALDO, so this belt from J.Crew worked perfectly. Whatever, they have great accessories! I completed the outfit with a basic white tank.

What’s with the hair you ask? My faux bob fro (say that five times fast). Just experimenting, I guess. Oh and sorry if the pics look a little washed out. We have overcast skies (and maybe the wrong setting on my camera) to thank.

My Newest Additions

From On May 25, 2011

So it’s time for a new installment of My Newest Additions and you know it wouldn’t be complete without something from J.Crew! Ha! This distressed denim vest has been on my wishlist for a looong time. Like I said before, if it’s still around when it goes on sale then it’s meant for me. I waited for weeks! At least two months. Yes, two months! It never came out in stores (at least not in my area), so I never had the privilege of seeing it in person. Well it’s mine now and I had daydreams of wearing it with maxis and full mini skirts. Maybe some skinnies in a super dark wash. Ugh.

The pastel pink skinnies are J Brand’s I ordered from Bloomingdale’s. I won’t say too much about them because you will read more and see how I wore them in my next post. So stay tuned for that! The two necklaces are from Madewell. For those of you that don’t know, Madewell is J.crew’s sister store. Go figure, right? I can’t even help myself. I love a great piece of jewelry and I’m always looking to expand my collection.

Oh and on a sidenote, remember the amazing Rebecca Minkoff snake-embossed clutch in my last My Newest Additions post? Well unfortunately I had to return it and boy was it painful. After one wear the snakeskin started coming off! So I figured if it did that after one wear, what would it look like after 20? Or 50? It was my second Rebecca Minkoff bag for I love my first one. That one just wasn’t for me. Still love her work though!

Sweetest Mint

From On May 23, 2011

Adding mint green to your wardrobe for spring is a must. So when I saw this Bar III silk maxi in Macy’s I knew right away that I was going to be getting it. The question was how did I plan on wearing it. I decided the contrast of black and white would work perfectly. I got this super long striped cardigan from J.Crew last year and haven’t worn it too much since then. The belt is a more recent purchase, also from J.Crew. I made myself wait until it went on sale. I spend way too much on their belts. The cute factor and great quality leather always hooks me. So I figured if my size was still available when it went on sale then it was truly meant for me. I didn’t realize how much I had from that store until recently. Writing this post also pointed to that same fact because the massive ring and earrings are from J.Crew too. Yup, J.Crew is my weakness. On another note, my Loeffler Randall flats are very dear to me. I love her shoes. These in particular are so adorable with their crossing straps and pyramid studs.

My Current Obsession(s)

From On May 20, 2011

via Shopbop

As I was browsing Shopbop’s newest additions I came across these Boutique 9 shoes and knew I had to share them with you guys. I’m not huge on the color red, but these would be amazing to have as a part of my shoe collection. They’re also available in nude and in black. They’ve been on the site for maybe a day and the red is almost completely sold out. More importantly, my size is no longer available. So now begins the hunt to find them elsewhere.

The necklace is also something I wouldn’t have normally chosen, but oversized stones have been growing on me. This Adia Kibur necklace would add some sparkle to the simplest of tops. I love it.

The Vita Fede ring is huge and fun. I could wear this with anything, dressed up or down. I’ve definitely been on a mission to expand my ring collection.

Happy Friday everyone! Stay tuned-I have some great posts coming up next week!
