A Feature On *Live Life In Style*

From On July 29, 2011

Check out my feature on Live Life In Style! Shasie features a new person every Friday. The questions she asked me were great. Find out how I came up with the name for my blog, what inspired me to start blogging and how long it’s been since I started, my favorite magazines, how many blogs I follow and more! I figured I’d give you a sneak peak. Here’s one of the questions she asked me:

Q: How did your love of fashion develop?
A: I think it’s in my blood. Growing up my grandmother was always sewing and making clothes for herself and occasionally for my sister and I. She would tell me how her mother (my great grandmother) loved having nice clothes. I’m the same way. I’m very particular about what I buy. The quality and fabric are two things I look at when shopping. Even when I was younger, looking at magazines and seeing how some of those women dressed. I was definitely influenced by the things around me.

Shady Spots

From On July 28, 2011

Took some quick photos in one of those sheer button-ups from Express that I’ve been obsessed over. I’m wearing white if you weren’t sure. I tried to make it a quick photo session since the mosquitos were out in full force. I didn’t want to get attacked again. The khaki linen shorts I’ve had for a long time. They’re from Forever 21, believe it or not. I love the detailing on them. The buttoned beltloops, the front pleats, the tie and the faux cuff. Very cute.

I accessorized my neutrals with my new Elizabeth & James double ring (that I can’t get over), a random necklace I got at some point when I lived in California, oversized shades (for the non-shady spots) from Anthropologie, and how about my studded Prada’s?! Simply some of my favorite shoes.

My Newest Additions

From On July 27, 2011

It’s been a while since I’ve posted some new additions to my closet. For starters, how about this Elizabeth & James double ring?! I LOVE it! The design is so unique AND it’s sterling silver. Bonus. Oh and if you’re wondering about my nail color it’s called Dreamsicle from ALDO. On my ring finger I have a hefty coat of Traffic-Stopper Copper (OPI for Sephora).

In the third photo you’ll find (more) pink pants. These are chinos from J.Crew and were on super sale. Took them home for $15. So I had to do it. The ankle booties are by Vince Camuto. I have been looking for the perfect leather ankle bootie for what seems like forever. Everything had an open toe and if it didn’t I didn’t like the style of it. Finally.

Next is this crazy long blazer from Ann Taylor. That store has reeeally been growing on me. They’ve got some great separates in there. I won’t get started on the accessories, but this jacket is linen and is long enough to cover my butt. It was also a good price. Originally $250 and I got it for $85. A deal if you ask me.

Last but not least are these Steve Madden leopard platforms. The platform itself is printed cow hair and stands at 3 inches while the heel is 6 inches. Very comfortable considering the measurements.

Three’s Company

From On July 25, 2011

I started out with one of these tops from Express and ended up with three. I had been on the hunt for a sheer button-up for the longest time. I don’t usually go into Express, but they had sent me a $15 coupon so I figured I’d go in and spend some free money. I came across this top and immediately wanted it. I love how it has a v-neck and still has a collar. Usually this type of shirt buttons all the way up. It also buttons around the wrists and has a single front pocket. Perfection.

I originally went home with the light pink one first. Go figure. Since I couldn’t stop thinking about it, I went back for the light gray one. Then I figured, why not get the white one too. I’m so ridiculous. I waited a long time for a style like this and I wasn’t going to let it pass me by!

These shirts also came in opaque colors. There was a bright red color that it came in that would be great for the fall season. But stay tuned! I’ll be wearing one in this week’s outfit post!

It has been ridiculously hot lately. Baring skin and loose-fitting clothes just might be the only way to attempt to keep cool. This tunic I thought of giving away until recently. I got it years ago when I went to one of the MAGIC tradeshows in Vegas. Love the sheer dark navy and cream print, as well as the billowy sleeves. I chose to wear it with my Free People cut-offs and tied the bottom into a knot so you would acually be able to see them. Add my knotted ALDO heels and it’s a done deal.

Oh, and I’m trying out MAC’s lipstick in Snob. Pastel pink on my lips.
