In Her Garden

From On May 9, 2011

Here’s my Mother’s Day look. Very casual and simple. Exactly how I like it most of the time. My family met up at my grandmother’s house for dinner to celebrate the lovely mother’s we have in our family. They are amazing and I love them. These photos were taken in her backyard. Its like a huge garden. There are lots of flowers, growing vegetables and there’s even a pond with coy fish. So relaxing.

I’m wearing one of my signature J.Crew tissue tees, new BCBG Max Azria skirt, and some Nine West sandals that I completely forgot that I had. Again, this goes back to quality. It’s been at least 7 years since I bought these. Leather shoes will take you a long way. The skirt was a recent purchase. Navy + striped = SOLD! Love the twisted hemline, as well. Now the belts are interesting since I felt like wearing two. The brown one is from Martin & Osa. Check out the oval-shaped studs! The cream one is a recent purchase from the Gap. The hardware on that thing is amazing.

Pretty flowers in my grandmother's garden.

Some of her orchids. O'so lovely.

Petal Pink

From On May 2, 2011

I’ve really been enjoying all of the neutrals and pastels that are big for spring. Especially this particular shade of pink. It seems to be everywhere. I see so much of it just being outside with all of the trees in bloom. So when I saw this BCBG Max Azria skirt, the decision was simple. Plus it had pockets. Made of silk, it is very sheer making it a little challenging when choosing how I’d wear it. So I ended up wearing a black mini skirt under it just so it wouldn’t be so see-through. I paired it with this striped top from Forever 21, belt from J.Crew, Andrea Brueckner bag and Cynthia Vincent sandals.

My mom took these photos while we were out in Chevy Chase last week. The original plan was to go there to check out the new Anthropologie accessories store that opened last October. They sell ONLY accessories. The amount of scarves, jewelry, handbags and shoes was pretty amazing. Apparently, there are only two stores currently open in the US. I wish I would have taken pics, but maybe next time!

But back to how we were only there to check out that store. Didn’t quite end up that way. The J.Crew there was huge and of course I had to go in. Adding another belt to my ridiculous collection. Got carried away in BCBG Max Azria and also left with a Rebecca Minkoff clutch from Bloomingdale’s. Did way too much damage, but enjoyed spending the time with my mom. I’ll post photos of my purchases soon.

This photo I took myself. It’s actually where I got the idea to title this post Petal Pink. Loving this soft pink color!

Easter Sunday

From On April 24, 2011

Today I had my little heart set on wearing a bright floral print dress. I mean, it is Easter. One of the first things that comes to my mind is floral prints in fun colors, may they be bright or pastel. But the weather had other plans for me. It was sooo uncomfortably hot. The last thing I was thinking about was a silky dress. Instead I went with a peasant blouse by Dolan that I had got from Anthropologie last year. [See how I wore it last time here.] It kind of stayed true to what I originally wanted to wear since it was a bright colored print. I paired it with my Free People shorts and my new Diane von Furstenburg clogs I got from The Outnet.

I spent most of my day at my grandmother’s house. There is nothing better than great weather (despite the heat and the thunderstorm that occured later), time with family and amazing food. These photos were taken in her backyard and I’m sure it won’t be the last time you see me there.

Hope everyone enjoyed their holiday!

Ostrich & Beetle

From On April 18, 2011

This look was so random. A chunky and oversized J.Crew sweater over a shrinkingly short BCBG Max Azria tunic. Yes, that’s how I was feeling today. I had no business buying the size medium in this sweater, but it must have been a return because it was the only one in the store. I was sold on the color and the fact that the mohair looked like it was literally rising up from the sweater. Pretty unique. Plus I love a huge and comfy sweater anyway. The clutch I scored on Ebay. Vintage Liza Ganz to be exact. Ostrich and snakeskin equals happiness.

These Pelle Moda sandals are easily a pair of my favorite shoes. They’re way more comfortable than they may look. But on to more important things like my necklace. I got it from Atlantis Home and I’m obsessed with it! Meet Nigel. He is an actual beetle cast in bronze and I love him.

You must visit Atlantis Home! Definitely some treasures worth
checking out.

Pumps On The Playground

From On April 11, 2011

I had a random urge to jump in the car and drive to the nearest playground. I guess I figured it would be a fun backdrop for these photos. Colored denim never really left the scene, but with spring quickly approaching bright colors are in full effect. I feel like I still have so much that I bought from Anthropologie years ago, which goes to show that good quality is definitely worth holding onto. I remember when I bought these AG jeans. At first I despised them and then I couldn’t decide between the electric blue, yellow or red. My choice is obvious, lol. The silk racerback tank I got from Forever 21. I love the olive green with red, and the stripes just made it that much better. The BCBG Max Azria blazer added a tailored touch and dressed it up a bit. Let’s not forget my go-to Lizza pumps by Jessica Simpson. Sooo comfortable. I could kick myself for not getting a second pair.

Now the necklace is something I put together myself. The key actually went to an old wooden jewelry box I was given when I was younger. I don’t have it anymore, but I had always kept the key for some strange reason. I guess I just liked the way it looked. One day it hit me and I decided to go out and find a brass chain, even if it already had a charm on it. Well I found one and ended up taking the charm off to replace it with this old key.
