Cut-Offs & Crackled Leather

From On October 27, 2010

Another windy autumn day. Leaves are steadily falling and the tempurature was around 65 degrees. Perfect for a slouchy sweater. Wearing shorts (Free People) and tights together is not usually my kind of thing, but I went for it today. This cashmere BCBG Max Azria sweater I bought when it was still all too warm outside. Almost talked myself out of buying it, but glad I didn’t. The mix of color, softness in texture and loose fit had me sold on it for a long time. The polka dotted tights from Express got tied in with the black Chan Luu scarf. Now what really added character to the overall look was the Prada slingbacks. Oh how I love them! The crackled leather and the studs? Heaven.

Being my(silly)self. Laugh often and smile hard.

In Summer, Again In Autumn

From On October 21, 2010

OMG, Autumn is finally here and I couldn’t be more excited. I definitely needed some relief from the aggravating heat summer brings.

Remember this Free People skirt (from Summer Days & High Heels)? I took more pics to show how I would wear it when the heat begins to fade. I paired it with a Free People sweater, BCBG belt, thigh highs and again, the Aldo booties. I’ve never paired a slouchy sweater with a full skirt, but I liked the results. It gave me no shape whatsoever so I added the waist belt. I adore the sweater! How slouchy and loosely knit it is makes it ideal for me. Reminds me of something from the Rebecca Taylor Spring ’10 collection.

The photos at the top came out really muted, but I loved how they looked kind of strange. It was pretty bright outside and I didn’t change the settings on my camera. I moved inside to take some pics so you guys could see a little better and those are the photos on the bottom.

Brown, Black & A Bit of Western

When I see these photos I can only wonder what was going through my head when I put this together. I remembering walking by this Ralph Lauren button-up in a store and thinking it was awful, but for some strange reason was very intrigued by it. The ruffles at the neck brought together by a huge bowtie. Let’s not skip over the fact that it’s this Western-looking plaid print. I thought it may look amazing with these pleat-front trousers from H&M. You might remember them from Two Yellow Lines.

I wanted simple accessories due to the plaid. I have no idea what made me think of this woven leather, mocha brown colored belt (by Linea Pelle) I got a while ago from Anthropologie and matching leather clutch (by Jacqueline Jarrot) from Martin & Osa. Years ago I despised the idea of the colors brown and black being worn together. But here I am wearing exactly that. And with plaid! I just recently (and barely) jumped on the plaid bandwagon this summer. So all three of them together is surprising. With sky-high pumps, I couldn’t be more thrilled about how this look turned out. Wow.

Thanks again to Laurie for taking these pics for me!

Last Taste of Summer

From On September 27, 2010

Right when we thought summer was gone it comes back to give us a last taste of that miserable 90 degree weather. So a couple of days ago I thought to throw on a knee-length tank dress from BCBG Max Azria Runway, a DIY cut-off denim jacket from the Gap and my Sam Edelman gladiator sandals. It was a little warm for the jacket, but I figured it would look great with the collar turned up for the photos.

I went overboard with the necklaces, 3 necklaces to be exact, and loved it. All of them are from Express and all of them I got yeeeears ago. Back when I actually loved to shop there. It’s changed SO much since then and I’ve pretty much lost most if not all interest. They all have this tribal-esque looking vibe and are made of natural materials. Pretty refreshing if you ask me.

Funny Face

Funny Face

Took some fun new pics today and daringly decided to rock this bright pink lipstick. Definitely not something for everyday. Not for me, anyway. I figured I’d title this post whatever the name of the lipstick was. To my surprise, I found it to be called Funny Face (by NARS). How fitting, huh?
