Seeing Stars

From On March 27, 2012

Excuse the evil look on my face. The sun was painfully bright. The more I tried not to blink from the awful glare the more evil I looked. Despite the shine, it was a gorgeous and warm day. I kept it simple with a sheer button-up and cuffed skinny jeans. This really seems like my casual go-to look lately.

What I Wore:
Express button-up, Gap belt, 7 For All Mankind jeans, Love,Cortnie ‘Graphic Swirls’ clutch (shop it here), Charles Jourdan heels

Plum Dressing

From On March 9, 2012

My first pair of colored suede shoes! I’ve been admiring colored suede for years, but have been too scared to actually purchase it. I could see the suede getting stained or dirty some how and by not purchasing suede-anything, I would avoid that. These shoes were adorable, looked comfortable and were on sale. A no-brainer and a good choice at that. I wore my Love,Cortnie ‘Royal Vintage’ supersized clutch with them to tie in the plum colors. Other than that, I kept it simple with a pale gray blazer (love this thing!) and cuffed skinny jeans.

What I Wore:
Anthropologie blazer, J.Crew tee (the best tees EVER), 7 For All Mankind jeans, Love,Cortnie ‘Royal Vintage’ clutch (shop it here!), Ann Taylor necklace, Nine West heels (available in multiple colors here)

Cortnie’s Take On The Boyfriend Trend

From On November 25, 2009

C in BF Trend

The boyfriend trend is not something I incorporate into my wardrobe everyday. I love the boyfriend tee (seen in all photos) and the boyfriend cardigan illustrated in photo 3. I managed to grab each of them in at least 6 different colors apiece. Yes, it’s that serious. However, I am not a big fan of the boyfriend jean (at least not on me). As you can see the trend definitely involves oversized clothing. Pieces that are masculine, but are feminine at the same time. So here I am demonstrating how simple the trend is to wear.

In each photo I have on a boyfriend tissue tee from J.Crew, 7 For All Mankind jeans, and Pour La Victoire pumps. The layering piece is the only thing that changes.

In photo 1 I added a Cartonnier blazer from Anthropologie and a necklace from Forever 21. I love the grey and the 3-quarter length sleeve of the blazer. Notice how it also covers my butt, making it great for leggings and sky-high pumps or maybe flat boots to dress it down for a more casual look.

In photo 2 I simply just added a Chan Luu scarf. Scarves are a great layering piece and they happen to be another obsession of mine. I can’t get enough of them and probably own over 20.

Lastly, In photo 3 I added a boyfriend cardigan that I got from Martin & Osa. They have the softest cashmere cardigans I have ever felt! They’re so warm and the colors are great. I couldn’t help but to make sure that I had several.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this trend stuck around for a while. So ladies go out and grab some male-inspired clothing and make it your own!
