Shibori

You may be wondering what shibori means. Well it’s a Japanese tie-dying technique. This dress caught my eye a couple of weeks ago when a Anthropologie store opened at my local mall. I went to the stores opening event with my mom and spotted this dress. But I didn’t think of it for me, but for my mom. She’s a fan of tie-dye. She liked it, bought it and that was that. Until I made the mistake of trying it on later. Let’s just say I had to get one of my own. I’m a huge fan of maxi dresses! One of my favorites that I own also happens to be from Anthropologie. So whenever I get a chance and see one that I love, I collect it.

What I Wore: Anthropologie dress (HERE), Love,Cortnie ‘Color Me Foldover” in camel (any color available HERE), mom’s vintage necklace & earrings, MAC lipstick in Candy Yum Yum (HERE) **Photography by Surpass Visuals

Fancy Floppy

Whew! What can I say about this hat?? I love the decorative aspect of it. It’s pretty damn unique and definitely added something extra to a simple look. But about these shorts! They’re the shortest shorts I’ve worn in a very long time! I got them thrifting right before I left for Miami, but didn’t end up wearing them while I was there. When I bought them they had this hideous embroidery around the bottom which I cut off. I then added a few destructed spots and washed and dried them. I love how they turned out. Always nice when you can find a great pair of denim shorts and make them your own.

Sooo did you notice the mini clutch though? It’s new. It has ice cream on it. It’s lined with cupcakes. And I love it. It will definitely be my new go-to for quick errands or simply to help keep my larger clutches organized.

What I Wore: H&M tank (similar HERE), thrifted Levi’s (similar HERE & HERE), NEW Love,Cortnie ‘Sweet Summer Mini’ (HERE), Anthropologie hat (ON SALE HERE), Zara heels (old, alternate HERE) **Photography by Surpass Visuals

Afloat

There’s just something about this dress. Extremely comfortable and lightweight. It’s perfect for Summer. But this is the first time I’ve worn it with a head wrap. I’ve even worn it in the Fall with a loose-fitting sweater over it. But no head wrap. So this is definitely a welcome change. I love switching it up. As always, with my black and white comes a colored lip. Helloooo, purple!

What I Wore: Chan Luu scarf as head wrap (alternate HERE), Anthropologie dress (old, alternate HERE & HERE), Nordstrom sunnies (HERE), J.Crew sandals (HERE), Eboni Cosmetics lipstick in Heart Breaker & MAKE UP FOREVER lipstick #15 (HERE) **Photography by Surpass Visuals

Eyelets & Stripes

Giving old pieces new life. I’m wearing a dress I got years ago from Anthropologie as a skirt. The detailing is just so pretty. If it wasn’t I’d have given it away a long time ago. The next step? Officially making it a skirt by cutting the top part off and adding a waistband. Maybe one day if I can find the time. Until then, a faux skirt it is.

What I Wore: J.Crew top (similar HERE), Anthropologie dress as a skirt (alternate HERE & HERE), Gap belt, Pelle Moda heels (alternate HERE), MAC lipstick in MAC Red (HERE) **Photography by Surpass Visuals

I Cut My Boyfriend

I cut my boyfriend jeans. They had been in my closet for quite some time, but I rarely ever wore them. They were insanely too long. It even made cuffing them close to impossible without making them look a bit crazy with bulging cuffs. Instead if getting rid of them all together I decided to cut them. I loved them because they’re extremely comfortable. It definitely would have been difficult to get rid of them based on that fact alone. But with the inseam much shorter, I can get more wear out of these babies for sure.

What I Wore: Anthropologie blazer (alternate HERE), J.Crew tank (HERE), Joe’s Jeans cut into shorts (alternates HERE, HERE & HERE), Love,Cortnie ‘Mongo’ clutch (HERE), vintage necklace from Atlantis Dry Goods, Aldo heels (HERE), Retro City Sunglasses, Melt Cosmetics lipsick in Stupid Love **Photography by Surpass Visuals
