Kenny and I drove around trying to find an interesting backdrop for some more photos and chose this semi-busy road. With posing in between running from cars that were approaching, they didn’t turn out too bad. I’ve been looking for some tapered pants with pleating at the top. While I would rather have found some pants that were more fitted on the bottom, these pants from H&M would have to work for now. They’re high-waisted and have front and back pockets. Love them. The down side? They give off the appearance of a pouch in the front, so I had to pose carefully.
I love this silk top because of the periwinkle blue color. I always make sure to grab silk tops from Forever 21 (most of the time) when I see them. It’s always a good deal. Now this was the necklace I got from Madewell that I mentioned in an earlier post. The lucite stones and brass chains make a nice combination.
The suede Gibbard booties are from ALDO. They’re pretty comfortable and the ghillie ties are also a big trend in footwear for spring.
When I think of Easter I automatically think of florals and pastel-colored clothing. I’m not sure why, though. Why don’t I think of the Easter Bunny, chocolates, or Easter egg hunts? Probably because I am no longer a child! Since those days are long gone, the focus has turned to dressing for Easter festivities when the holiday finally rolls around. Whether it be for church or dinner with the family, I’ve got a couple of ideas as to what makes a great Easter outfit.
Above you will find two looks:
On the model is the Floral Applique’ Tank Dress (from Torrid and available in sizes 12-26). The style of this dress works well on busty women or those that want to take the focus off of their middle area. The dress masks the tummy, but still gives you a flattering shape. Pair it with a cropped black cardigan for more coverage and later wear it with a denim jacket and flat black sandals for a more casual look. Adorable!
For the second look I collected a few pieces. The Shirred Silk Floral Print Dress (from Newport-News and available in sizes 0-16) caught my eye. It hits below the knee unlike the first dress, but still comes in at the waist and has more of an A-line cut. Layer it with the pale pink B.P. Three Quarter Sleeve Cardigan (from Nordstrom). The Faux Pearl Studs and Layered Pearl Necklace are both from Forever 21. I chose pearls because they are clean and simple, letting the print on the dress stand out by itself. The two pairs of shoes are for two different looks. The Michael Antonio Solstice Sandals give a more dressed up vibe and the Dolce Vita Hayden Wedge is a little more casual (both from Endless). Top it off with the Rebecca Minkoff Morning After Clutch (from Museten) and your look is complete!
HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!
This past Sunday I went to the Style List Fashion Soiree/Mannequin Fashion Show at LUX Lounge in Baltimore. It was my first time going, but I must say that it was nice. White couches, tables, great lighting and the dj was great. There was even food available which is always a good thing. Especially if you didn’t get a chance to eat before you left (like myself) or if you plan on being out until early morning (like myself, again). The fashion show, hosted by Teronce Styyles, didn’t start until after 10pm, but when it did it was intriguing.
Collections from Will C Style, 7 Deadly Sins, Quest Collection, Kas Collection Inc., Emore’J Couture, Renee France Designs and Madison Walker were shown. There was a lot of military & uniform-inspired looks. I saw everything from swimwear to couture. I didn’t take too many pictures, but I did manage to get some of the Emore’J Couture collection.

What I wore:
Leather bomber from Nordstrom, J.Crew V-neck top, Gorjana necklace, Forever 21 skirt and floral tights, Jessica Simpson pumps, Rebecca Minkoff studded hobo bag
So I’m back from Miami! I had a great time with my friend, Ashley. We barely slept, but we enjoyed ourselves all too much. It was my first time there and definitely won’t be my last. From the beach and the clubs, to the food and the shopping, Miami has it all. I loved the atmosphere and the energy of South Beach. The following picture was taken my second night there before we went out.
I’m wearing a BCBG Max Azria bandage skirt paired with a silk top from Forever 21, a BCBG max Azria belt and shoes by Jessica Simpson (my faves). I love this look because of the black and white and the huge pop of neon-esque pink. The blousy top paired with a slim mini is a look I go with often for it compliments my hips and small top. I’m all about defining the waistline so the belt does that for me. I also kept it light on the accessories.
My last night there I wore a little black dress. Chic and simple I called it. Form-fitting and short, a great combination for me! I got it from BCBG Max Azria and I believe it’s actually a top, but being only 5 feet tall it worked perfectly as a mini dress. Again, very minimal jewelry. I wanted my dress to be the stand-out piece. The sandals I bought from ALDO a couple years back but remain to be a big part of my warm weather wardrobe.
**Trend Alert: Bright pops of color, mini skirt, long-sleeve mini dress and studded belt
Each of these trends will still be seen throughout spring 2010 collections.
The boyfriend trend is not something I incorporate into my wardrobe everyday. I love the boyfriend tee (seen in all photos) and the boyfriend cardigan illustrated in photo 3. I managed to grab each of them in at least 6 different colors apiece. Yes, it’s that serious. However, I am not a big fan of the boyfriend jean (at least not on me). As you can see the trend definitely involves oversized clothing. Pieces that are masculine, but are feminine at the same time. So here I am demonstrating how simple the trend is to wear.
In each photo I have on a boyfriend tissue tee from J.Crew, 7 For All Mankind jeans, and Pour La Victoire pumps. The layering piece is the only thing that changes.
In photo 1 I added a Cartonnier blazer from Anthropologie and a necklace from Forever 21. I love the grey and the 3-quarter length sleeve of the blazer. Notice how it also covers my butt, making it great for leggings and sky-high pumps or maybe flat boots to dress it down for a more casual look.
In photo 2 I simply just added a Chan Luu scarf. Scarves are a great layering piece and they happen to be another obsession of mine. I can’t get enough of them and probably own over 20.
Lastly, In photo 3 I added a boyfriend cardigan that I got from Martin & Osa. They have the softest cashmere cardigans I have ever felt! They’re so warm and the colors are great. I couldn’t help but to make sure that I had several.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this trend stuck around for a while. So ladies go out and grab some male-inspired clothing and make it your own!
