Lucky Magazine & LOFT Event

From On October 24, 2011

I had been looking forward to this event since I had heard about it. Lucky Magazine, my favorite mag by the way, had teamed up with the LOFT for the grand opening of their store. Traffic was terrible getting to Georgetown and parking was a pain, but once I got to the store I kind of forgot about it. Kind of. I walked in and a DJ was playing music in the window display at the front of the store. The place was packed. The interior designing was amazing and the merchandising looked pretty impeccable for the crowd of people that was there. There were people going around serving champagne and mini cupcakes. It was really nice.

You were also given the opportunity to style a look from head to toe by grabbing what you liked, then putting it on in the fitting room and then you would come out to a photographer that would snap a picture of your look. I skipped that part because the line was way too long. So I mingled with my CapFABB bloggers and that’s always a good time.

What I wore:
Express blazer, Anthropologie pants, Jessica Simpson shoes (similar style here), J.Crew tee, Gap belt

I wore my Love,Cortnie ‘Ray Limited Edition’ clutch. Get it here! Can you spot who wore the ‘Ashleigh’ clutch? Also available here!

Ponchos were prominent throughout the store

For The Boys

From On October 17, 2011

I have been DYING for a pair of boyfriend jeans. I’ve bought a pair and taken them back. I just couldn’t find what I was looking for. I always thought they looked too big and weren’t all that flattering. So recently I began the search again. I was browsing Piperlime’s website. SO so glad they’re selling clothes, by the way. I came across these Joe’s Jeans in the boyfriend fit. I didn’t own any Joe’s Jeans so I took a risk with the sizing. When they arrived I was ecstatic. They are super soft and o’so comfortable. I paired them with this striped men’s sweater from the Gap. I’ve had it for two years and have never worn it. Pitty.

So it was only fitting that I title this post ‘For The Boys’ since I’m wearing men’s style jeans and a men’s sweater. What do you think of the basketball court as a little touch? Ha! And I know I look pissed, but it was so bright snapping shots in the sun. Not to mention, it was extremely windy.

From now on I’m going to try to give you guys an easier way to see where I got the items I’m wearing. If it’s something I’ve had for years I will do my best to find something similar.

What I wore:
Joe’s Jeans, Gap men’s sweater (similar style here) and belt (similar style here), ALDO pumps (similar style here), Love,Cortnie ‘Betty’ clutch

Gray Scale

From On October 13, 2011

I love a good gray and black combination. I took a basic gray sweater and paired it with a layered flowy skirt that happened to be a shade darker. I went with it anyway. I incorporated studs with my belt and then added simple black booties. I spiced it up a bit with my Love,Cortnie ‘Britnie’ clutch. I think with something so basic a print is necessary. The fabric on this bag is just amazing. But what do you think about the earrings? Vintage clip-ons courtesy of my mom’s jewelry box!

What I wore:
Banana Republic sweater, H&M skirt, BCBG Max Azria belt, Love,Cortnie “Britnie” clutch (shop this style and others HERE!), Vince Camuto booties, vintage clip-on earrings

CapFABB Blogger Meetup: Nectar Skin Bar

From On October 5, 2011

Last night I attended my first CapFabb Blogger Meetup and I must say that it was nice to get out and mingle in fashion. I got to put a lot of faces to the area bloggers I’ve come across in the blogosphere. The event was held at the Nectar Skin Bar in Georgetown. Manicures were being done and food and drinks were being served. They had such a huge array of nail polishes. It was pretty impressive. We were given a tour and it was then that I noticed how plush the place really was. If you’re in the DC area and you’re due for a little ‘me time’, you have to stop in there and be pampered the correct way.

What I wore:
BCBG Max Azria leather jacket and dress, necklace I made, Urban Outfitters tights, Love,Cortnie ‘Britnie’ clutch, Vince Camuto booties
