A *Washingtonian* Feature

From On February 27, 2012

So today my mom brought to my attention that the March issue of the Washingtonian had hit the stands. Back in January an editor of the magazine reached out to me and wanted to do a feature on my Love,Cortnie bags. So we set a date and I made my way to Georgetown with a couple of my bags and different looks for the photoshoot. Erik Uecke shot the photos and afterward I interviewed with Kim Forrest. Definitely a wonderful experience. Thank you thank you THANK YOU to everyone who has bought one of my bags, retweeted my tweets, shared my site or simply mentioned it to someone else. I truly appreciate all the love and definitely could not have done it without you! And a special shotout to my DC bloggers. The support from you ladies has been AMAZING!

Make sure to grab a copy or check out the Washingtonian online!

CapFABB 1 Year Anniversary Event

From On February 23, 2012

Photo c/o ThePresidentWearsPrada.com

The other night I attended CapFABB’s 1 year anniversary celebration at Cities Restaurant & Lounge in DC. Had.a.blast. The venue was perfection, the drinks, the food, the people in attendance and the photobooth! So much fun. I joined this lovely group of bloggers some time last summer and now there are about 400 members. Insane. Getting together with these ladies is always a good time.

H.Bloom sponsored the event so there were flowers everywhere! Check out the flower bar where ladies were making accessories out of flowers. Many wore hats and bib necklaces they had made during our time there. The drink of the evening was, of course, the sangria pictured with all of the yummy fruit floating in it. I had to abandon mine since I was driving, but I did enjoy it.

I kept it simple with a blouse, pleated pants and oxford-style heels. I added my birthday gifts from myself (See my last post!) and one of the new clutches to my Etsy shop. Check out the Crayola bag here (there’s only 2 left!!)! Ashleigh wore the ‘Tangerine Dream’ clutch which you can also find here!

NYFW: Blogger’s Night Out

From On February 16, 2012

Luckily enough, while in New York, I was able to attend the Blogger’s Night Out event. The turnout was insane! Way too many people for the venue that was chosen. The upside? Lots of fashionable people in the building. I love meeting and networking with new people.

My standout piece for this look was this pleated metallic maxi I got from BCBG Max Azria right before the trip. I kept it simple with a sheer black top and studded waistbelt (also BCBG Max Azria). The clutch I actually made from a thrifted black leather trench coat! I love that the leather is so soft and already broken in from previous wear. It was pretty much my go-to bag during my entire trip. Again, I don’t plan on selling this style unless I get a ton of requests. Check out my other styles here!

NewYorkFashionWeek: Look #1

From On February 14, 2012

First and foremost, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! Yes, my birthday is on Valentine’s Day and I’m turning the big 2-8. Wow.

But here’s my first look from my trip to New York for Fashion Week. I went in with the plan that I would pick a standout piece and build my outfit around it. You can probably guess the standout piece in this look lol. I actually have 2 now that I think about it. I’m not really into furs, but when I came across this beauty at It’s Vintage Darling I couldn’t get it off of my mind. The color is gorgeous! I was proud of myself for leaving without it, but then ended up getting it days later. I knew it would be perfect for Fashion Week.

Now the Love,Cortnie clutch, on the other hand, I made specifically for Fashion Week. Metallic silver snake-embossed leather with silver spikes turned up my look. Love it! I didn’t plan on selling it, but if I get any requests for it I may give in. It’s pretty amazing and a bit time-consuming I might add.

Overall, I had a blast in New York. I couldn’t have gone with a better group of ladies. I’ve definitely got more photos to share so stay tuned!

What I Wore:
It’s Vintage Darling vintage fur, leather bomber from Nordstrom, Gap skinnies, Love,Cortnie clutch, Ann Taylor booties, Chan Luu scarf
