Paperbag Waisted

From On June 16, 2011

These are probably some of my favorite photos I’ve taken in a while. Love the randomness of a paperbag, highwaisted pant with a tucked in sweater. Not to mention the color combination of mustard yellow and khaki. The pants are from H&M and I really thought of getting them in a second color, but didn’t. The lightweight sweater is from J.Crew. They make some of the best and well-made knits. The belt is from the Gap, the shoes are by Pelle Moda and the ALDO button clutch ties it all together. Let’s not forget my Lanyapi wishbone necklace that I ordered. Check out more of her jewelry on Etsy and become a fan of her work here!

Ostrich & Beetle

From On April 18, 2011

This look was so random. A chunky and oversized J.Crew sweater over a shrinkingly short BCBG Max Azria tunic. Yes, that’s how I was feeling today. I had no business buying the size medium in this sweater, but it must have been a return because it was the only one in the store. I was sold on the color and the fact that the mohair looked like it was literally rising up from the sweater. Pretty unique. Plus I love a huge and comfy sweater anyway. The clutch I scored on Ebay. Vintage Liza Ganz to be exact. Ostrich and snakeskin equals happiness.

These Pelle Moda sandals are easily a pair of my favorite shoes. They’re way more comfortable than they may look. But on to more important things like my necklace. I got it from Atlantis Home and I’m obsessed with it! Meet Nigel. He is an actual beetle cast in bronze and I love him.

A Blouse & Bubble Hem

From On September 1, 2010

I wasn’t very sure as to how I wanted to wear this silk top from Anthropologie (by Dolan). I definitely knew I didn’t want to wear it with jeans, although it would look great with skinnies to balance out the looseness of the blouse. Wide-leg jeans that are fitted through the thigh would be great for a more boho look. So ignoring the obvious I went with a white, gauzy BCBG Max Azria skirt and bubblegum pink lips (that you can barely see). The bubble hem was a risk because the blousiness of the top already added enough volume. A fitted skirt would have been ideal, but why not add more volume?! Since I added the waist belt from Martin & Osa it gave me the hour-glass shape I needed to tame the two together. Perfection! I loved the outcome! Oh yea, the sunglasses are also from Anthropologie. I love that store.

Shades of Blue

From On August 25, 2010

The temperature didn’t even break 80 degrees today. I’m loving this cooler weather. I decided to go with these Seven skinny jeans and this linen-like, white and blue striped button-up from H & M. I’ve been noticing in stores, magazines and elsewhere that mixing shades of blue is IN right now. Even mixing denim! Yes, I know it’s tricky, but there’s a way around it. You have to wear different washes together. Although my shirt is not denim, I definitely centered this look around the trend. The blue in my shirt is lighter than the wash of my jeans. Keep your accessories in neutral shades like camel and even gray would work. I chose to go with this camel-colored ruffle belt from the Gap and my Pelle Moda wedges.

The End of a Chapter

From On May 31, 2010

A cousin of mine graduated from high school the other day. A high school where my sister and I went. A high school where my mom and her two sisters also went. Can you believe that? As I was sitting there watching the Processional I realized that I was in that same place eight years ago. Eight years?! So much has happened in those eight years since I graduated from high school. I ran into a couple of my old teachers and couldn’t help but think about those times. It was also nice having some relatives in town that I don’t usually have the pleasure of seeing. It was a great time. I also managed not to shed any tears. Go me!
