Spring 2011 Denim Trends

From On March 30, 2011

If you haven’t heard or already seen these styles by now then this should be informative. Denim in flare and wideleg styles were seen all over the runway for Spring 2011. The 70′s is back in the form of a high waistline and lighter washes. Do get yourself a pair, ladies! Not only are they comfortable, but they give off the appearance of longer legs when worn with the right heel.

The pair on the left are Hudson flares from Farfetch.com and the others on the right are Karl Lagerfeld jeans from Stylebop.com. Another characteristic to look for in your denim for Spring is a thicker hemline. I have yet to invest in a pair of jeans with a high waist, but I do love the pair of widelegs I wore in a recent post, here. Stayed tuned for a post on how to put the whole 70′s look together!

Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring 2011

Love the Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring 2011 collection! Stripes, bright colors, fun shapes and fresh silhouettes. We’re still seeing major military influences for Spring, as well as, sportier looks. New this season is the 70′s vibe. Gorgeous prints, highwaisted fits, and full below-the-knee skirts and sundresses give off a flirty sophistication that we all should have a bit of in our wardrobes. I started off writing this blog thinking I was going to incorporate a few of my favorite looks from the collection, but had a hard time choosing. So here are 14 looks of dresses, jumpsuits, shorts amd skirts that loved.

Bag Envy: 3.1 Phillip Lim

The Edie Bag

The Edie Bag

I came across the Edie bag from the Spring 2011 3.1 Phillip Lim collection on Shopbop and immediately added it to My Hearts. Anyone who knows anything about this website will know what I mean. I knew it was only a matter of time before this gorgeous thing was sold out. About three days after it was listed on the website it was GONE. Wow. Luckily for me, I found it on a few other sites, but not in this lavender-colored suede. How adorable is it with the feminine bow, but hard-edged stud detailing? Perfect mix. Net-a-Porter carries it in the leather. More ideal, but definitely not the same look. The Berry wristlet is like a mini version, but without the bow detail. I also added the Brea and Page bags because they are pretty amazing, as well. Loving his Spring 2011 bag collection. Now it’s just a matter of deciding.

Fast Forward: Jil Sander

From On October 1, 2010

Ok so I’m not trying to jump ahead to spring already, but I saw a blog on Jil Sander’s Spring 2011 collection and couldn’t just forget about it. The photos that Scott Schuman of The Sartorialist shot were pretty amazing. Amazing enough that I thought to share a few of them with you. I love the play on volume and bold colors together. The proportions are not average which makes them that much more appealing. I love the first and fourth look. Although I would not wear the first look, I do love the floral print and how the dress is paired with the jacket. The fourth look I would definitely wear. I love the cut, the color and the fact that the model is wearing it with nude color heels. Did anyone notice the berry-colored lips that all the models are sporting? Well see for yourself!
