You would never have known that this skirt is actually a dress. I bought it at Anthropologie a couple of years ago and I love the eyelet detailing at the bottom of it. Definitely a great way to take a strapless summer dress and make it wearable for cooler weather. The studded knee boots I have also had for years and they’re so comfortable. Oh, and the necklace! I’ve never worn it before, but I got it from Express a super long time ago. It’s made out of small white sea shells. So random, but I like the weight of it and its graduating strands.
What I wore:
Calvin Klein shirt, Anthropologie dress and belt, Express necklace, Steve Madden boots
Shot these photos in the hallway of my sister’s apartment building and all out of fun. Doesn’t this look remind you of Olivia Newton-John’s outfit at the end of Grease?! The big hair and all black and skin-tight ensemble? Trust me, I did not have that in mind when I put it together. But after looking at the photos I couldn’t help but think about it. So funny. Wearing my new Steve Madden’s. The leopard platform is ridiculous.
What I wore:
BCBG Max Azria pants and ring, Anthropologie belt, Express bandeau, Gap cut-off denim jacket, vintage Anne Klein necklace (thanks, mom!).
Oh and the lipstick is Cherish by MAC with a layer of lipgloss in C-thru (also by MAC).

When I see these photos I can only wonder what was going through my head when I put this together. I remembering walking by this Ralph Lauren button-up in a store and thinking it was awful, but for some strange reason was very intrigued by it. The ruffles at the neck brought together by a huge bowtie. Let’s not skip over the fact that it’s this Western-looking plaid print. I thought it may look amazing with these pleat-front trousers from H&M. You might remember them from Two Yellow Lines.
I wanted simple accessories due to the plaid. I have no idea what made me think of this woven leather, mocha brown colored belt (by Linea Pelle) I got a while ago from Anthropologie and matching leather clutch (by Jacqueline Jarrot) from Martin & Osa. Years ago I despised the idea of the colors brown and black being worn together. But here I am wearing exactly that. And with plaid! I just recently (and barely) jumped on the plaid bandwagon this summer. So all three of them together is surprising. With sky-high pumps, I couldn’t be more thrilled about how this look turned out. Wow.
Thanks again to Laurie for taking these pics for me!
